Come for the coffee, stay for the creativity! Join us for Cups & Chords: an open mic night at GDAC!

Brought to you by GDAC and Artists Enclave, this free event invites everyone to enjoy a warm evening filled with music, poetry, creative writing and more. Grab a cup of hot coffee or cocoa, enjoy light snacks, and relax as we showcase and celebrate the creativity of our community.

Calling all artists, poets, novelists, musicians, dancers, comedians, and more! The stage will be yours to share a story, perform a dance, sing a song, sketch a caricature, etc.

Sign Up Info:
- Open mic sign-up is first-come, first-serve starting at 5:30 PM.
- Performances begin at 6:00 PM
- The time limit is 10 minutes, or 2 songs for musicians, and 5 minutes for spoken word.

Plus, that same night, we're kicking off the countdown to the Ninth Annual Eggsibition! Don’t miss your chance to pick up a bisqueware egg to decorate for this highly anticipated event taking place on Sunday, March 30 at GDAC!

A screening of the award-winning short film BLENDER, a local celebrity-studded BLENDER staged reading and fabulous Boka Feliz cuisine

Come join us for a pre-Oscars celebration at the Theatre Denton Annex inside Golden Triangle Mall and relive the '90s in a nostalgic comedic way! Blender-fied showcases the incredible talent of North Texas performers in this dark comedy written by comedians Sarah Adams and Maggie Rieth Austin of The Monthly Junk. BLENDER is about best friends Jess and Meg, who face a retrial to prove their innocence, decades after being convicted of murdering their PTA president back in 1991.

Your ticket includes theatre snacks, non-alcoholic/alcoholic beverages and Boka Feliz cuisine.

Ruffle Your Feathers Rummage Sale

Artists Enclave President, Susan Carol Davis has a great carport and driveway area for a rummage sale or "garage" sale by another name.

Members, start your stash of goods and clothes you’d like to sell and plan ahead for the art supplies you can purchase, the day trips you can make and the dinners out on the town you can have with proceeds from this first time ever AEDC Rummage Sale!

Anyone participating will be asked to price his/her own items, help set up for the Sale on Friday, Sept. 20th, spend at least 4 hours at the sale and then help pack up the unsold items for donations to Ruth's Room and Thrift Good.

Davis will be the "cashier" for the day, keeping track of sales for each participant. At the end of the day, 60% of each participant's sales will be his or hers. 40% will be then donated to Artists Enclave's general operating expenses.

Early giving to Artists Enclave through NTGD happens September 1 - 18th.

Free to attend — the more the merrier! Event is open to the Public.

So you say you can …… tell a story, move to the music, play an instrument, recite a poem, draw a caricature, do standup, teach origami and much much more? This is the event for you! We’ll be sitting “cafe style” in Festival Hall of the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center with an informal time to celebrate the creativity of Members and their guests.

Sign up for your 5 minutes in the Spotlight begins at 5:30pm.

For anyone signing up that evening from 5:30-6pm to "step into the spotlight" for 5 minutes, there's more info below. Sign up is open to 12 Artists Enclave Members, their guests and the general public:

  1. No microphone or special amplification equipment will be used.

  2. What you share in that 5 minutes needs to be family friendly as the event is open to the public including children.

  3. 2 to 3 people can sign up to share their 5 minutes together.

  4. Round tables will surround an open area on the floor level of Festival Hall so the stage won't be used.

  5. Think "outside the box" on what you can share in that 5 minutes from live music, original poetry or story, comedy improv, craft or art demonstration, dance, a reading from a play, a monologue, magic tricks, etc.

Special guest, Billy O’Leary, will share some great acting tips for attendees wanting to spend more time in the spotlight of film/television/stage.

Start the evening at 5:30pm shopping with Artists Enclave Member vendors whose creative work certainly garners applause! VENDORS: Christina Saenz, Christine Irving, Jo Williams, Kathy Hamilton Kelly Sutherland, Lea Hamilton Tonya Littmann

Beverages will be provided but anyone coming is encouraged to bring an appetizer that’s any color or many colors of the rainbow!

Come to see David Blow's captivating wildlife photography of birds. Accompanying each photograph are thoughtful poems by Christine Irving, which speak to the lives and nature of both people and birds.

The exhibit opened August 5th and will be in Festival Hall through October 12th.

What better way to kick off Summer 2024 and celebrate a groundbreaking 9th year for Artists Enclave than a Mixer with live music, refreshments and special announcements of upcoming events like an incredible 2025 exhibit at the UNT CoLab. The Mixer is open to the public.

Enclave Member Susanne Coffey brings Texas Sky to fill the CoLab with bluegrass and more. Originally formed in 2008, right here in Denton, Texas Sky is a progressive acoustic group that adds their own musicality to traditional bluegrass and other genres.
